History and History/Social Sciences Education students at ISU have access to an advisement staff well-versed in professional issues as well as degree requirements. Dan Stump advises majors whose last name begins with A-K, and Ron Gifford advises majors whose last name begins with L-Z.
Majors should see their academic advisor at least once each semester. Although the student is ultimately responsible for seeing that all academic requirements are met, the guidance of an advisor can greatly reduce the possibility of errors.
Career opportunities other than teaching for our students are enormous and varied. However, students sometimes have difficulty identifying a direction that suits their interests and strengths. Your advisor can provide guidance and information about the many kinds of career opportunities available for our majors. In addition, the Career Counseling Center in the Student Services Building can be of assistance.
