The History Department offers a Master's program which provide students the opportunity to pursue history in more depth and sophistication than the baccalaureate allows. There are also potential career benefits, particularly to teachers who are already employed. Currently, a Master's student may specialize in U.S. History, Modern Europe, Non-Western World, Public History/Historical Archaeology, or History Education.
A student may earn the Master's degree by completing thirty-two semester hours of 300 and 400-level courses and writing a satisfactory master's thesis or by completing thirty-nine semester hours of credit and presenting two satisfactory revised seminar papers. For more information on the Master's program, see the Graduate Catalog and the department master's advisor.
